Good food - fast service. Delicious salsa, and shrimp cocktail. Fresh food - friendly customer service.

Been eating at this place off and on for the last 4 years or so. Overall their food is good. The servings are really big and filling. The drive through can be a bit slow at times but this is because their food is made fresh so it is understandable. I haven't had good authentic Mexican food like this since my family used to live in Texas. The prices are really fair as well. The salsas that they have here are also really good. My favorite plate here is the chimis, the shrimp burrito, and the menudo. I've also tried their steak burritos and they are a little salty but still good. The only reason for the non-perfect rating is because the interior can be a bit dirty at times because the tables aren't cleaned immediately when guests leave.

The Carne asada is always awesome and I love the rolled tacos also. It doesn't get much better than this.

Ate chicken tacos and got food poisoning. I was sick for two days. I will not be going back.

Good greasy, CA styled Mexican food. I don't think this place does too well in town but it's modeled after a very successful chain that is all over southern CA. Classic hangover food. Food you wanna eat after a long night of drinking and partying. For those late night munchies this is great! Give the carne asada a try. Oh.. Don't forget the horchata.

Three words: Carne Asada Fries. For a really great tasting, bad-for-you meal. Layer of fries comes with a scoop of guacamole and a scoop of sour cream, covered in carne asada and cheese. Have tried the rolled tacos, was not impressed. Also the guacamole by itself seems bland. I will be back for the fries and the fries only, on cheat day of course!

Legit Mexican food is kind of a rarity in Albuquerque. Sure, you've got all the New Mexican places, but that's hardly the same. Sometimes, I want a thin tortilla. Sometimes I want jalapenos instead of green chiles. Sometimes, I want cilantro, and pico de gallo, and guacamole. For those times, it's nice to know there's a place like Frederico's. This place may not knock your socks off, but it does offer some very competent Mexican food at modest prices and without any of the ado of a sit-down restaurant. This food is served in paper, on paper, and it's eaten with plastic, but it is hardly fast food in the same sense that Taco Bell is. Stuff here is fresh, made in house and out of quality ingredients. I've had the carne asada burrito (an Arizona staple) and the nachos, and both ended up being damn good. The burrito was fairly packed with deliciously grilled steak, pico de gallo, and cheese, and wasn't at all greasy in it's thin, stretchy, slightly chewy AZ-style tortilla. The nachos were almost comically large, absolutely piled up with meat, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, and veggies, then doused with their complimentary taco sauce. Fantastic deal, but way more food than I could eat and not nearly as good the second day. I definitely recommend this to anyone who likes Mexican food and understands the difference between that and NEW Mexican food. If you get the huevos rancheros here, you'll be disappointed. They aren't a New Mexican restaurant.

This place is more Mexican food than any place I've been to in Albuquerque. I'm from Southern California originally. They used enchilada sauce with lots of cheese in/on there enchiladas. I was not asked "red or green" but to accommodate they had a condiment bar with delicious red chile and hot green chile sauce for the side that you could get to go, plus they had relish! ( carrots, onions, Jalepeno's ) very good. There guacamole was muy suave. Burritos were huge. Taco shells crunchy! The staff was very nice, and efficient. Even my boyfriend who is from NM liked it. I'll be back!

Huge burritos...they look small in the pictures but they will knock you out if you try packing in 2 of them.

I only go here after the clubs because its open late. Its expensive, generic, bland "mexican" food. Taste like nothing really. Service sucks. I dunno, maybe I should have given this one star.

This is San Diego style Mexican food, so people calling it "New Mexican fast food" are misinformed to start with. Carne Asada is the staple here and I had to have some since I haven't been back to So-Cal in years. They were good when they first opened, but the last few times we went to eat here the food wasn't seasoned at all and the prices are sky high for a taco shop. Bottom line: quality has gone down hill in the Rio Rancho location and I won't spend $6 to eat food that isn't made right. If you want Carne Asada, the choices are limited and this may be the best you have to pick from. But, the owner needs to check on his quality more often because I went there last weekend and the food was gross!

Great food, good prices. It is definitely a fast food/take out type of place, so don't go expecting a classy dine in experience. Perfect lunch spot. I recommend the mini tacos (which are not so mini in my opinion) with tons of their awesome homemade salsas. The key to ordering here is to steer clear of anything fried.

I used to live close enough that I could just mosey across the street at 4 am and get some food before I passed out drunk. And that is truly the best purpose for this place. I would consider it "fast food" since it's not a place I would ever take a date. (Unless I truly didn't care...) Considering it is (or at least was) open 24 hours, after the bar it is a perfect spot to begin the sobering process. Carne Asada tacos are good, despite the severe gastrointestinal catastrophe that will definitely ensue the following morning. Nachos are massive with the same result the next day... If you order the cow tongue and pig intestine burrito, be prepared to spend at least six hours the next day seated firmly on a porcelain shit tank. See the trend? Or maybe its just the severe dehydration. I've never tried this place sober so who knows... Jury is still out. Try it and share your thoughts! Bottom line: quick, decent, food to satisfy your drunken, or "other" hunger.

Would not be visiting again. Had the huevos rancheros and was given eggs, beans, rice, and stale misture of something of onions, tomaotes, and chili...where is the red sauce? When I asked about the sauce, they gave me taco sauce. Wife had carnitas or something to that nature, we both didn't finish our food and was disappointed. Some are saying this is a fast food place, don't think so because staff was extremely slow.

I happen to enjoy the food at Federicos very much. I used to go there at 2 or 3 in the a.m but now despite the fact that they say open 24hrs they are not. I recommend the Flauta plate or the Carne Asada and fries. I havent tried too many things on the menu because the items previously stated are my faves. They do however have good fast food that wont break the bank. I also suggest you try the churros, cream filled or non cream. The horchata is also very good for a drink.

Definitely agree that this is New Mexican fast food. I guess it would compete in the taco shop slot, but this at least feels a little more personal than some mega-franchise chain. The food is fast. And good enough. You don't show up here expecting haute cuisine, and you don't find it here. I've been for a quick lunch, and that's about it. They are a really good value for the price, but sometimes it's worth it to pay a little bit more.

This is one of the only places on this side of town that does legit Mexican food. I'm from Cali so I'm used to pretty authentic Mexican food and when first coming to new mexico all I could find is new Mexican food which is a whole different ballgame from Mexican food. My favorite from this place is the mini tacos, I like to get them with steak and then smoother it in green sauce. Getting just 3 fills me up but if your really hungry go for the 5. They have deals with them Monday thru Friday. They take awhile 90%of the time so be prepared to wait (don't do drive thru it will feel like eternity. However this I'd because everything is made fresh. Prices are cheap and sodas have free refills, however chips are extra. And their mini salad bar doesn't really have salsa but the sauces you can put on top and the carrots, radishes, lemons/limes.

Taquitos are not the same as tacos. I wanted taquitos. I wondered why my order was so pricey. Found a wrong order when I got home.

For fast Mexican food, it's actually not bad. This is one my fiance's favorite quick stops. Their bean and cheese burrito is surprisingly yummy. I figured it would be a little bland and it was not. It's very inexpensive for it's size. Definitely better than the normal fast food burrito. Their salads are a little boring and can be not-so-fresh. The salad mix is either perfect or on the verge of going wilted. The chorizo breakfast burritos are a win, though. I have no complaints about those. I enjoy their nachos, as well. Those are typically a favorite. I am not a fan of their rice, at all. It's pretty boring. I know they had a problem with bad chicken a while back, but hopefully, that got cleared up. Fast food is fast food, after all. The quality is not always to be trusted. I have never had a truly bad experience here, so it gets 3 stars. It's not the best, it's nto the worst. The food is typically good. The service is typically fast, especially in the drive through.

Ate some carne asada tacos and got a flouta plate for the kids. Wont be going back. It wasn't horrible tasting but it wasn't good either. It was $18 for two plates. Not worth it!

Wow this place is amazing! I go here all the time. There prices are a little high (every plate around 10$) but the plates are huge. I love to get the carnitas burrito and then hit the salsa bar. I would suggest for anyone that likes mexican food to try this place out!!!!

It is hard to find a real Mexican, not a New Mexican place here in town. This is the first one I've found and the breakfast Chorizo burrito is just like I remember my "mom" making, except this one is much larger! This is truly a Mom and Pop (or should I say a Momi y Papi) Two mexican born lovers that have worked in the food industry each individually trying to make it in the US, until one day they save up enough money (or probably take on a bunch of bank debt) to live out their dreams and provide food they learned to cook from grandmothers and other generations in their families. I can't wait to go back! Open 24hrs!!!! They've been around for a year now, and I pray they stay because YOU got eat their good food and support them!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
